After doing some research, I decided to write an article about 7 amazing benefits of drinking lemon water.

Increased Energy Level

This is the main reason why I drink lemon water in the morning because of the increased energy it gives me.

Who could use more energy these days, Right?

If you drink a mug of warm water and the juice of half a lemon each day you will notice improvements in your energy levels. Lemons are known to be a natural energizer. They are a good source of folate, which is a form of a water-soluble B vitamin. Folate helps to keep your energy level high.

So if you tend to get tired from exercising start your day with warm water (not hot) and juice from half a lemon. Try this for 2 weeks and see how much vigor you gained. :-)

Improved Mental Clarity

You ever experienced brain-fog?

Well, Lemons can help bring back that sun-shine. :-)

Lemons are high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium also, helps regulate your blood pressure and is good for cardiovascular health. Studies have shown that foods with high amounts of potassium may prevent hypertension, or high blood pressure.

Lemon water helps your mind and body to be more relaxed and you have less mental stress. It also, decreases depression.

Boost Immune System

Lemons are high in Vitamin C and Bioflavoniods. Vitamin C is great for fighting colds. Bioflavonoids are plant-based antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables, which have anti-allergenic, anticancer and antiviral properties.

Balances pH

This is the single most important measurement in your health and that is how acidic or alkaline your body is. Your blood and tissues pH should fall between 7.4 to 7.6.

Lemon water has an alkalizing effect on your body and can help restore a normal pH balance. When you have normal ph balance your body can fend off infections and reduce inflammation.

Your body will have less aches and pains.

Even though lemons are acidic on it's own, it does not create acidity inside the body. Once metabolized inside the body, Lemons become alkaline. And an alkaline body can fight off infections and reduce inflammation.

Weight Loss

Lemon juice helps to suppress your appetite and aids in digestion. The pectin found in lemons and other citrus fruits helps you feel fuller longer so you don't end up overeating. Studies have shown that if you maintain a more alkaline diet you will lose weight faster. People who take enough vitamin C oxidize fat cells 30 percent quicker than people who don't have sufficient amounts of
vitamin C while exercising.

Lemons and limes can aid in digestion. Lemon juice is like a tonic for the liver and helps you digest your food by helping your liver produce more bile. The citric acid will promote secretion of juices within the stomach, boosting digestion. This helps to remove toxins and waste leftover in the intestines.

If you maintain a healthy digestive system this will help boost your metabolism, which can affect your weight.

Keeps you Hydrated

Having water with lemon juice in the morning is a great way to replace caffeinated drinks and to stay hydrated. It is recommended to drink at least eight 8-oz glasses of water each day to prevent dehydration.

When dehydrated the body tends to store excess water, which can cause bloating and weight gain around the abdomen. Drinking water helps the body to detoxify itself and improves liver functioning.

Adding lemon flavoring can encourage you to drink more water throughout the day. The high content of vitamin C in Lemons acts as a natural but gentle diuretic. This means it increases urination in the body, helping your body to eliminate excess fluid and sodium more quickly.

Clears Skin

Daily intake of lemon water can do wonders in the appearance of your skin, especially first thing in the morning. The vitamin C in lemon juice helps your complexion by decreasing wrinkles and acne. Lemon water acts as a blood purifier by purging toxins from the blood and keeping skin clear of blemishes.

What's the Recipe Again?

It's so simple. One serving of lemon water is 8oz of water with the juice of half of a fresh-squeezed lemon. It's best to use purified, distilled or spring water and organic lemons.

Things You Need to Consider

  • First of all, If you have any medical problems, please do not drink lemon water to treat them without the advice of your doctor.
  • Keep in mind, that lemons are acidic and can erode teeth enamel. So when you drink lemon water it's best to drink it through a straw to protect your teeth.
  • If you have an ulcer the citric acid in lemons may irritate your stomach.
  • If you suffer with heartburn, it's possible that lemon water can make it worse
  • I mentioned before that you should choose organic lemons because you don't have to deal with pesticide residues on their peel. But, if you don't use organic lemons, make sure you wash your lemons in warm soapy water to get rid of the pesticide residue.
